The Act

What are the offence provisions in the Lobbyists Registration Act?

A lobbyist or a senior officer of an organization may be committing an offence and may be subject to a fine of up to $25,000, by:

  • conducting lobbying activities as defined in the Act and not registering within the time frames set out in the Act

  • not providing the required information as stated in the legislation

  • failing to provide the Registrar, as set out in the Act, with changes to a return, new information or clarification of information requested by the Registrar

  • knowingly making false or misleading statements
