Maintenance Enforcement and Locate Services (MELS)
Maintenance Enforcement and Locate Services (MELS) facilitates the successful payment of child and spousal support orders in the Province.
MELS manages:
- The Family Maintenance Enforcement Program (FMEP), which monitors and enforces all maintenance orders and agreements that are filed with it.
- The Family Search Program, which conducts searches, where necessary, to find a specific person's location, assets, employment and sources of income in order to obtain, change or enforce custody, access, guardianship or maintenance orders or agreements.
- The Reciprocals Program, which ensures the smooth flow of maintenance orders between the B.C. courts, the FMEP and reciprocating jurisdictions.
