Family Justice Reform
The Co-ordinated Family Court Jurisdiction Model
The Family Justice Reform Working Group has recommended, if the unified family court model is not implemented, a "co-ordinated jurisdiction approach."
This is not a unified family court. It represents an attempt to achieve some of the benefits of unified jurisdiction, while leaving the two existing courts in place, by trying to better integrate and coordinate their work. (p.99, add name of report here)
The ministry is working with the courts and bar to move in this direction. Work on a single set of family rules, to replace the Supreme Court Rules and the Provincial Court (Family) Rules, is now underway. |
