Justice Reform Initiatives ~ Early Solutions, Faster Justice

Civil Justice Reform

The justice system must evolve in order to remain relevant and responsive to the needs of society. Many reports on the civil justice system from around the world have explored this issue.

They have identified cost, delay and complexity as serious barriers to access to civil justice and have offered some common solutions. They include an increased reliance on collaborative dispute resolution as an alternative to court and greater judicial control of cases.

The Ministry of Attorney General has been exploring, promoting and implementing civil justice reform for many years. Working with the courts, lawyers and others, the justice system has undergone many changes. Since 2002, however, efforts to make more fundamental changes have intensified.
