On July 7, 2009, the B.C. government announced that new B.C. Supreme Court Rules and a revised schedule of fees will come into force on July 1, 2010.
The new civil rules were developed through extensive research and a broad consultation, carried out by the BC Justice Review Task Force, which included the civil rules Internet forum. The rules were then finalized by the Rules Revision Committee, a committee of senior judges, experienced private sector lawyers and others.
For more information on the new civil rules, including fact sheets and documents highlighting key features of the rules, please see the BC Justice Review Forum website.
These are the civil rules.
A table of concordance of the existing (2009) civil and family rules to the new (July 2010) rules is available here. Please note that this document lists each 2009 rule and sets out the closest corresponding 2010 rule. Blanks in the document indicate that no 2010 equivalent exists. 2010 rules that have no corresponding 2009 rule are not listed in this concordance.
