If You Go to Provincial Court

Where can I find out more about going to court?

The Legal Services Society offers specific information about how to change a support order and a general idea about what happens in Court in:

  • Two booklets on how to change child or spousal support orders in Provincial (Family) Court, one for couples who agree to the change and one for couples who don't.

  • A video called Making Your Case: The Family Court Process, which shows a couple going through the process of changing a support order in court. The video is available both online and on cassette. To order the cassette for a free two-week loan within BC, fill out the video booking form. [PDF]

A Kids’ Guide to Separation and Divorce and A Teen Guide to Parental Separation and Divorce include information about going to court written especially for children and teens.

A Family Justice Counsellor is also a good source of information about the Provincial Court process.
