The Ministry of Attorney General introduced a family mediation pilot project in Nanaimo in late 2007 to help people find early solutions to their family law disputes. The Notice to Mediate (Family) Regulation enables any party to a family proceeding in designated registries of the B.C. Supreme Court to require the other parties to attend a single mediation session. The pilot project was expanded in early 2008 to include the Victoria and Duncan registries of the Supreme Court. Effective January 1, 2009, the pilot project was further expanded to include the Vancouver and New Westminster registries of the Supreme Court.
A copy of the Notice to Mediate (Family) Regulation is available here.
