Do I need a criminal record check in order to article?

All successful candidates for positions with the Ministry of Attorney General must successfully complete a criminal record check before their appointment is confirmed.

Successful candidates for articling positions will also be required to complete a criminal record check under the Criminal Records Review Act, as during a rotation with Crown counsel they may be put in the position of working with children. This is defined in the act as “working with children directly or having or potentially having unsupervised access to children in the ordinary course of employment or in the practice of an occupation.”
