What pay and benefits do articling students receive?
Articled students are hired as time-limited regular employees and receive full medical and dental benefits, as well as four weeks of paid holiday leave. The salary is $48,446.79 annually and $1,856.96 bi-weekly. Articled students are also eligible to apply for the Pacific Leaders Loan Forgiveness program at: www.pacificleaders.gov.bc.ca/loanForgiveness.htm.
The ministry's Legal Services Branch pays the Law Society of British Columbia enrolment fees, including Professional Legal Training Course (PLTC) fees, for its students and continues their salary during the training course. It also pays the students' call fees at the end of articles.
