Ministry of Attorney General

How do I apply?

  1. The Ministry of Attorney General recruits one year ahead. Download the questionnaire and the notice calling for articles from this website the January before the year you want to begin your articles. The questionnaire and notice are posted in mid-January each year.

  2. The questionnaire asks about your education, work history, and goals and interests in law.

  3. Ensure you indicate on the questionnaire whether you wish to be considered for the ministry articling program or the B.C. Prosecution Service Articling Program.

  4. Return the questionnaire by e-mail on or before the date it is due. Full instructions for completing the application, along with the e-mail address and due date, are on the questionnaire.

  5. Questionnaires received on or before the due date will be assessed and a short list of candidates determined.

  6. Receipt of your application will be acknowledged by e-mail.

  7. Applicants who do not make the short-list will be notified by mail.

  8. Short-listed candidates will be invited for an interview before a panel of lawyers. The ministry can arrange videoconferences for candidates who cannot travel to Victoria.

  9. Successful candidates will receive an employment offer by mail.

  10. The Ministry of Attorney General is particularly interested in receiving applications from aboriginal law students and we have one additional articling position open only to students of aboriginal heritage.
