About the Public Inquiry Act, SBC 2007, Chapter 9

The Public Inquiry Act (PIA), brought into force June 21, 2007, clarifies the powers and functions of public inquiries, consistent with the modern standards of administrative justice set by the Administrative Tribunals Act and repealed by the Inquiry Act.

The PIA also repealed references to the Inquiry Act in a number of other statutes (typically related to summons, disclosure, maintaining order and contempt powers), replacing them, in some cases, with references to the Administrative Tribunals Act.
